Imo it’s 7/10 right now, for comparison I have His 2011-2015 albums at 8.5/10. He said the album is gonna be more reflective and on “Losses” vibes, I hope he just switches it up a little more while still keeping the substance. However, this is a project of leaks and B sides so I have hype for the next album as a good amount of these tracks will be in my rotation. Maybe I’m overthinking cause this is practically a throwaway project, but this kinda applies to since post Views for me, and it was glaring in Scorpion And this applies to all his introspective rapping tracks since post Views imo
The R&b tracks are kind of minimalist in a way, I’m not sure the right word, but like it leaves a lot of focus on Drakes melodies and lyrics, which may bore some people in a way.(Not necessarily a negative, cause I enjoyed the R&B tracks the most )įor example: A track like Losses should hit as much as From Time or Too Much to me cause in a way it’s the same introspective format.But those older tracks hit much harder. Maybe it’s because he’s released so much music but the songwriting on his pure rapping tracks aren’t as interesting as before. I think if I were to group Drakes discography in certain categories you’ll understand what I mean. My main thing with Drake now is more of a personal problem, where a lot of these songs fit in a different “type of Drake Song”, He has his introspective songs, and his r&b songs, his hype songs, but a lot of these tracks sound like tracks he’s done before except they’re worse this tiime. It’s a solid front to back besides Toosie imo.
